Victory

from Rojo by Philosofree & Optimysts

/

about

This was written in 2003 during many internal struggles.
It is a prayer to the spirit of Love.

(It was the first time I used a piano as the main instrument I was playing while composing!)

lyrics

You know me, you see the tears behind the dry.
You know me, you know how hard I have to try, to get by.

Smile on this day, smile on me,
And through the dark, help me see!
That what I fight is all within me;
The struggle in my soul and body.

Lift up my faith by showing dawn will break free
Each new day I have can be simple opportunity
To love, to care, to seize,
One small victory, one day’s victory.

Consider the children, who move on harder ground to learn that friends leave and dreams die,
while darkness covers innocence, we squirm.

Smile on this day, smile on me,
And through the dark, help me see!
That what I fight is all within me;
The struggle in my soul and body.

Lift up my faith my showing dawn will break free
Each new day I have can be simple opportunity
To love, to care, to seize,
One small victory, one day’s victory.
